COH - Centre for Orienteering History As early as 30 years ago, Zlín orienteering runners started to record the development of the Czech orienteering and they also documented the current orienteering activities. In this way fairly rich archives of this sports event were created, the core being documentation related to Cup of the Town of Zlín, the oldest orienteering competition in the Czech Republic. In 1984, an agreement on co-operation between the Czech Orienteering Union on the one hand the Zlín Museum of southeastern Moravia on the other was signed. A Centre for Orienteering History, the first museum in the world concerned professionally with orienteering history, was established. Zlín (map), the administration centre of south-east Moravia located 100 km east of Brno, became the cradle of the Czech orienteering as early as 48 years ago, in 1950. At that time, based on information obtained from Sweden, the touring and skiing club of Sokol Svit at Zlín, organised the first orienteering race, which - being held for the 49th this year - ranks among the oldest orienteering events in the world.
